Today marked the fifth day of my yoga teacher training, and I must say that thanks to Alice, my day concluded with an incredible Temazcal and Kirtan experience. The intense heat within the Temazcal offered a distinctive form of release, which was amplified by the presence of a harmonium and enchanting vocal performances that filled the air with a surge of energy. I even found myself singing in the Temazcal lodge, and it seemed to liberate my throat chakra, granting me a profound sense of freedom.
After stepping out into the cool night air, we gathered around a campfire beneath a starry sky, and shared a hot cacao drink served in the traditional manner – in coconut shells. According to the indigenous belief, cacao is not only good for expression but also for the heart, and I can attest that it was indeed remarkably soothing for the nerves. I lay down for a while, gazing up at the stars, feeling entirely content with my life in that very moment. We also had the opportunity to share our intentions with the group around the bonfire, expressing what we hope to manifest.
Earlier today, we explored various Pranayama techniques and practiced meditative poses, which have been instrumental in helping me feel more centered. Our discussion delved into the sutras and covered the concept of "vritti," shedding light on how fear can create a sense of restraint.
On a lighter note, I also had the chance to finally capture a better image of a massive, green-colored iguana. I continue to be amazed by the remarkable biodiversity of this place. So far, I've encountered a wide array of wildlife, including birds, bats, geckos, crabs, geese, and now, an iguana! Stay tuned for more exciting experiences to come.
