Embracing a yogic lifestyle- on and off the mat

Introduction

Namaste, dear readers! I am thrilled to take you on this journey as I dive into the world of yoga and mindfulness through my blog. I am a recently certified RYT200 (Registered Yoga Teacher) and acquired my certification through a 26-day yoga immersion study encompassing not only the asanas but also pranayama, meditation, philosophy, anatomy, teaching methodologies, and yogic values. As I continue to learn and evolve, it is my hope that you too can embark on this path of self-discovery and personal growth with me.


The Yogic Lifestyle: A Brief Overview

Yoga has been a significant part of my life since the 8th grade. However, the recent yoga teacher training was a new chapter and a steppingstone into evolving my way of life according to the principles of yoga. Yoga is not limited to the postures (asanas) we practice on the mat but extends to how we conduct ourselves off the mat. This holistic approach to life is what we refer to as the yogic lifestyle.


During my YTT200 journey, I often felt like a mere spectator in the theater of my own life. This transformative experience compelled me to question the very foundations of what I believed to be true, inspiring me to want to become a better and more conscious person. I have clarity now that this is not a passing phase but my dharma. This realization stemmed from being compassionate with myself.


Living a yogic lifestyle means making conscious choices that promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. It involves cultivating mindfulness, nurturing your body and mind, and finding inner peace.


Meditation and Mindfulness

Meditation lies at the heart of yoga and mindfulness. Although this entire blog focuses on mindful living, meditation plays a significant role in the journey toward mindfulness and self-awareness. Through my blog, I will delve into various meditation techniques, their benefits, and practical tips for incorporating meditation into your daily routine. This section will also feature reflections inspired by nature and the changing seasons, as well as an exploration of spiritual depths.


Yoga (YTT journey & beyond)

Whether you're new to yoga or an experienced practitioner, there will be something here for everyone. This section will entail some of my experiences during my YTT200 in Colombia. I will talk about some of the challenges and accomplishments as I go along this path. This will include teaching yoga, mastering certain poses over a period, and respecting your limitations on the mat. I will be incorporating some of the important lessons from the workshops and courses I participate in along this path. Finally, I will also plan my 300-hour training after gaining some experience and confidence along the way.


Travel and Experiences

One of the things that truly makes my soul happy is traveling. Exploring new places, cultures, and cuisines is always on my mind. I sometimes tell my husband in a lighthearted manner that I'd rather have no assets and be able to travel the world than to own assets and be deprived of traveling. Most of the corporate projects I undertook in the past were aimed at saving money to enable me to travel. I saved money from my last project to sponsor my yoga teacher course in Colombia. I'll be sharing my travel experiences, both local and international, near and far, and how I integrate mindfulness into my journeys. Travel provides a unique opportunity for personal growth and self-discovery, and I'm excited to take you along on these adventures and share some insightful tips.


Recipes

Feeding my family makes me happy. I love preparing traditional recipes with a healthy twist. I will be sharing some of my culinary favorites, including my mother's special recipes, dishes I've grown up enjoying, and those that make my taste buds happy. Be sure to have a notepad ready to jot down these recipes for your next meal or snack.


Heartful Memories

Heartfelt memories are some of the most treasured memories from the past. Being a romantic soul, nostalgia plays a significant role in my life, and I believe that only by keeping your inner child alive can you truly stay in touch with yourself and attain peace of mind.


Conclusion

My hope is that this blog will inspire and guide you on your own path of self-discovery and well-being. Let’s find some balance on and off the mat. Living a yogic lifestyle in Ohio, with the heart of Colombia in my soul, is a journey of growth, balance, and inner harmony. Yoga, mindfulness, travel, recipes, and heartful memories intertwine to create a holistic way of life.
